A backtesting tool you use by describing a rule in words: Claude Code tests it on QuanterLab and answers with its figures and its report's link. Its MCP server gives Claude Code the platform's backtests, walk-forwards, scans and published research. It runs on QuanterLab's servers at https://quanterlab.com/mcp, over HTTP, and you sign in with your QuanterLab account the first time.
Step one
In a terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http quanterlab https://quanterlab.com/mcp
It is added for the project you are in. To have it in every project, put --scope user before the name.
Step two
/mcp.You need a QuanterLab account: every new account starts with 30 days of Practitioner, free and with no card. Sign up.
The other route
The plugin carries the same server, and five skills that tell Claude how to use it: backtest-a-rule, walk-forward-check, scan-for-candidates, run-a-saved-strategy and read-the-research. Two commands in a terminal; take this route or the one above, not both.
claude plugin marketplace add quanterlab-ug/quanterlab-claude-plugin
claude plugin install quanterlab@quanterlab
The first sign-in is the same: /mcp, then your browser.
Then
A run answers in words, with a few rounded figures and the link to its full report on quanterlab.com. QuanterLab places no orders, connects to no broker and moves no money. Research and education only, not investment advice.
