A project keeps one strategy together: the settings you saved for it, its runs and reports, and its paper trade. The projects of the standalone modules live here: Basic Strategies, Indicator Strategies, Stochastic Methods and Factor Models. Each of those tabs has a My Projects button in its ribbon that opens this page with its own projects; Show all projects lists every one. The lab keeps its own projects, in the lab.
Starting a project
Press Start a project (or the + beside the project tabs) and give it a name. There is nothing else to choose: a project opened from a module belongs to that module, and a project started from Show all projects belongs to the module of the first setting you put in it.
A project's page
Each project reads from top to bottom:
- What it is: its module, when it started, when it was last worked, and your note.
- Its settings: the settings, walk-forward checks, scans and portfolios you dragged in from the right-hand column. Each opens in its module with an Open button. When a project holds a setting checked by a walk-forward and a scan, one line offers to try that setting on one of the scan's stocks.
- Its results: the runs and reports kept in the project, newest first. Add from your Reports, or the + on a run in the sidebar's Reports, adds a run made with a module; a run can also start a new project of its own.
- Its paper trade: choose one of its settings and press Deploy as a paper trade. The setting goes to the paper trading of its module and trades on each day's close, with $10,000 of paper money, for 30, 60 or 90 days. Once it is live, the block says how the book is doing since it went live, and how simply holding the same stock did over the same days. A portfolio is tracked in the Portfolio Visualizer.
A project that already has a timeline keeps it, folded at the foot of the page.
Removing and deleting
- The × on an item in a project removes it from the project; the item stays where it was saved.
- The × on a card in the right-hand column deletes the saved item itself, after asking.
- Clean up appears only on a project the conversion worked in. It lists what the conversion made, by name, and removes only that; your notes and what you added stay.
- Edit renames the project, changes its colour or its note, and deletes it. Deleting a project leaves its settings and reports where they were saved.
Key takeaways
- One project, one strategy: its settings, its results and its paper trade on one page.
- Each module's My Projects button opens its own projects; the address names the open project.
- Nothing you saved is deleted by removing it from a project.
