My Projects is the organizational hub of QuanterLab. It lets you group related strategy configs, portfolios, and ML models into named projects, add research notes, plan timelines, and attach reports. Navigate to it from the sidebar or the Dashboard back link.
Creating a Project
Click the + button in the project tabs bar to create a new project. You will be asked to provide:
- Project Name — A descriptive name (e.g., "AAPL Momentum Study" or "Q1 Value Portfolio")
- Category — Choose Portfolio, Strategy, ML Model, or Research to color-code and organize your projects
- Color — A visual identifier that appears on the project tab
Each project appears as a tab at the top of the page. Click a tab to switch between projects. You can have as many projects as you need.
Adding Items to a Project
The right sidebar shows three collapsible sections containing all your saved items:
Trading Configs
Every strategy you have saved from a Strategy Builder or the Overlay/Builder appears here. You can filter by strategy type (Mean Reversion, Momentum, Crossover, Breakout, Universal) or by timeframe (5m, 15m, 30m, 1h, 4h). Drag a config card from the sidebar into the project drop zone to add it.
Portfolios
Saved portfolio allocations from MVO, HRP, or Inverse Volatility optimization. Filter by optimization type. Drag to add.
ML Models
Trained machine learning models. Filter by algorithm (RF, XGB, LGBM, CAT) or model type (Classifier, Regressor). Drag to add.
Adding items is done by dragging from the right sidebar into the project area. The drop zone shows a hint ("Drag items from the right sidebar") when empty. Items appear as cards in a grid layout once added.
Project Timeline
Every project includes a timeline — a horizontal calendar view for planning your research and tracking important dates. Click Setup Timeline or the Edit button to configure it.
The timeline supports several row types:
- Research — Mark research periods (e.g., "Backtesting Phase" spanning two weeks)
- Hold — Track holding periods for positions
- Analysis — Mark analysis phases
- Notes — Add date-specific notes as diamond markers
Each row shows bars spanning date ranges. A vertical line marks today. Weekends are subtly shaded. You can add and remove rows, and adjust the timeline period using the controls.
Trade Evaluation Notes
Below the timeline, every project has a rich-text notes editor. Use it to document your trade thesis, record observations, and evaluate results. The editor supports:
- Bold (Ctrl+B) — Highlight key conclusions
- Italic (Ctrl+I) — Emphasize important points
- Underline (Ctrl+U) — Mark action items
Notes auto-save as you type. A "Saved" indicator appears in the toolbar to confirm your work is persisted.
Reports and Attachments
Click the paperclip icon in the project header to attach reports. You can link analysis reports generated by other modules to keep everything related to a project in one place. Attachments appear in a dedicated section below the notes.
Project Management
The project header provides three action buttons:
- Attach Report (paperclip icon) — Link a report or analysis to the project
- Download Report (download icon) — Export the project summary as a downloadable report
- Edit Project (pencil icon) — Rename the project, change its category or color
To delete a project, click the × on the project tab.
Create a project called "Tech Momentum Q1". Drag in your AAPL and MSFT momentum strategy configs from the Trading Configs sidebar. Add the MVO portfolio that includes both stocks. Set up a timeline with a "Backtest" phase this week and a "Paper Trade" phase next week. Use the notes to document why you chose these particular indicators and what you expect.
