The Portfolio Visualizer (PV100FAWF) is a real-time portfolio tracking dashboard. It lets you build portfolios of up to 20 tickers per tab, execute buy/sell/short actions, and monitor performance with live price updates.
Accessing the Visualizer
Open it from the Dashboard (Portfolio Visualizer card in the Execution row) or from the sidebar. The module runs inside the main wrapper and updates prices automatically.
Building a Portfolio
Adding Positions
- Search for a ticker — Use the search bar at the top. Type a symbol or company name and select from the dropdown results
- Set your action — Choose Buy, Sell, or Short
- Enter quantity and price — Specify the number of shares and the entry price
- Confirm — The position is added to your portfolio and immediately tracked
Each portfolio tab holds up to 20 positions. You can create multiple tabs for different portfolios (e.g., "Tech Growth", "Dividend Income", "Short Hedges").
Use tabs to organize different investment themes. Each tab is an independent portfolio with its own positions, cash balance, and performance chart. Switch between tabs to view different portfolios.
What You See
Portfolio Summary
The header shows total portfolio value, cash balance, unrealized P&L (dollar amount and percentage), and the number of assets. These update in real time as prices change.
Position Table
Every position shows:
- Ticker — The stock symbol
- Shares — Number of shares held
- Entry Price — Your purchase or short price
- Current Price — Live market price
- P&L — Unrealized profit/loss in dollars and percentage
- Market Value — Current position value
Performance Chart
A line chart tracks your portfolio value over time. It starts from when you added your first position and updates as prices change. You can view different time periods and compare your portfolio performance against a buy-and-hold benchmark.
Trading Actions
The Portfolio Visualizer supports three action types:
- Buy — Purchase shares at a specified price. Deducts cash, adds to position
- Sell — Sell held shares. Returns cash, reduces or closes position
- Short — Short sell shares. You profit when the price drops. P&L is calculated as (entry - current) × shares
Portfolios are saved automatically and persist across sessions. Your positions, trade history, and tab configuration are stored in the database and restored when you return.
Integration with Other Modules
The Portfolio Visualizer connects to the broader platform:
- From Fundamental Analysis — After running portfolio optimization (MVO, HRP, IVO), you can build a portfolio with the recommended allocation weights
- From My Projects — Saved portfolios appear in the My Projects right sidebar and can be dragged into projects for tracking
- Sidebar monitoring — Your portfolio summary (asset count, total value, P&L) appears in the left sidebar on every page
- Search and add — Use the search bar to find tickers and add positions with Buy/Short
- Monitor live — Prices update automatically. Watch your P&L in real time
- Use tabs — Create separate tabs for different portfolio strategies
- Track history — The performance chart records your portfolio value over time
